Natural gas maximal load delivery for multi-contingency analysis

An increasing dependence on natural gas has amplified existing vulnerabilities to the power grid, including disruptions transmission networks from and man-made disasters. To address operational challenges arising these disruptions, we consider problem of estimating steady-state operating capacity a damaged pipeline network while ensuring maximal delivery load. Specifically, formulate mixed-integer nonconvex load (MLD) problem, which proves difficult solve large-scale networks. this challenge, present relaxation MLD use it determine bounds transport system. A rigorous computational evaluation over models ranging in size 11 4 , 197 junctions shows that relaxation-based method is suitable for analyzing impacts multi-contingency often converging optimal solution less than ten seconds. • Maximal Load Delivery analysis estimates Relaxations physics increase tractability an analysis. Rigorous benchmarking illustrates advantages relaxations. analyses can help estimate effects disasters
